Darren McDonald  Business Performance Coach, Lean Thinker

Darren McDonald is a highly experienced business performance and improvement coach. He advises businesses in Taranaki and across New Zealand. 

Darren has been involved in "leading improvement" since leaving University.  Commencing work in Dunedin he provided training and implementing on customer ERP systems for an IT business.  He was worked with major reorganization, start up projects, systems implementation; all with a recurring focus on developing people and process improvements.   Be the organization large or small, the key factor in success will be your ability to engage staff and other stakeholders.  

During a 10 year UK ‘OE’, he held senior finance, supply chain and systems roles in the Energy and then IT industries.  In Aberdeen, Scotland, he opened a new office for an IT services business, whilst also assisting the owners to prepare the business for sale.

Darren returned home to New Zealand in 2001 to work initially in Oil & Gas, before setting up Lean Engage.  As well as his work with SMEs Darren had provided Lean Programs at Shell Todd Oil Services and Refining New Zealand. 

He is a Shell-accredited performance coach, has a Post Graduate Diploma in Learning & Development and a B.Commerce degree, and is a Chartered Accountant.

In October 2017 he was appointed to a Panel of Advisors for the Callaghan Innovation - Better by Lean Program.  Darren is working with a cross industry group to promote national understanding of the role of Lean Kata in learning and innovation.
